## What is Pearlcay?

Pearlcay sells short domain names: the two-letter endings that startups, AI teams, developers and gaming communities choose. You search a name, pay in crypto, and the domain is registered in your name.

The only contact data we collect is one email address per domain, verified and kept private. DNS and forwarding are free with every domain. Each price on the site is per year, and the renewal sits next to the first year.

## Why short country codes, and why islands?

Many of the endings people want are country codes, and many of those belong to small islands. .ai is the code of Anguilla, .gg of Guernsey, .tv of Tuvalu and .cc of the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. .io is the code of the Chagos Islands.

Each registry sets its own rules: the minimum term, who can register, what stays public. A .ai must be bought for at least 2 years, while a .gg is registered one year at a time. These differences are the reason Pearlcay is built around the registry and the island behind each code.

The [island domain index](https://pearlcay.com/island-domains/ "Which domain extensions belong to islands?") lists every extension we sell with its place, registry and technical operator. The [extensions page](https://pearlcay.com/extensions/ "Short domain extensions") gives the price of each.

## Who runs Pearlcay?

DomaineGoat LLC, a company incorporated in Panama, operates Pearlcay. In our terms, “we” means DomaineGoat LLC.

Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner. DomaineGoat LLC itself holds no ICANN accreditation. ICANN rules and the rules of each registry apply to every domain. The [terms of service](https://pearlcay.com/legal/terms/ "Terms of service") set out the contract.

## What data do we collect, and what do we never ask for?

We collect one email address for each domain. It is required, verified and kept private, because ICANN rules ask for a verified contact. It is the only contact data we hold.

We never ask for an identity document, a selfie, an ID number, bank or card details, or the private keys of your wallet. We never ask for your password, your account number or your domain transfer (EPP) codes by email or chat. Your data is not sold and is not used for advertising. The [privacy policy](https://pearlcay.com/legal/privacy/ "Privacy policy") lists what we keep and who receives it.

## How does the money work?

Payment is in crypto only: BTC, USDT, USDC, ETH, SOL, LTC. You top up a prepaid balance, from $25, and every registration, renewal and transfer comes out of it. Monero is not accepted.

Balance rule: Unused balance stays on your account and never expires, and it pays for new domains, renewals and transfers. When a purchase costs less than the minimum top-up, the part added only to reach the minimum is refundable on request to support within 30 days of the payment, in USDT or USDC, as long as it has not been spent. The rest of the balance is not paid back, except where the law requires it. Also, if a domain cannot be registered (taken in the meantime, refused by the registry), the full amount goes back to your balance.

## What do we do about abuse, and when do we release data?

Phishing, malware, botnets and fraud that takes money from victims lead to action within 24 hours of a well-documented report. Child sexual abuse material is handled immediately, with a report to the competent hotline or authority. Trademark disputes follow the UDRP.

We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case. The [abuse page](https://pearlcay.com/abuse/ "How do I report abuse on a Pearlcay domain?") explains how to report a domain, and the [acceptable use policy](https://pearlcay.com/acceptable-use/ "Acceptable use policy") lists the forbidden uses.

## What do we not do?

- We do not ask for an ID document, a selfie or an ID number.
- We do not take cards, PayPal, bank transfers or Monero.
- We do not act on a copyright, defamation, political or competitor complaint alone: it takes a decision that binds us.
- We do not promise an instant availability check for .io, .gg and a few other extensions, because their registries confirm at order.
- We do not allow a domain to be used for phishing, malware, botnets, fraud on victims or child sexual abuse material.
- We do not publish ratings, reviews, awards or customer numbers.
- We do not give legal advice. A page that explains a registry rule describes the rule, not what your own situation allows.

## How are the pages of this site made?

Each page carries the date of its last update. Our prices come from one price list, so every page shows the same figure. A price from another registrar, when we show one, carries its date and its source.

Facts about a registry come from the registry itself, from IANA and from published sources, named on the page that uses them. If you find an error, [write to us](https://pearlcay.com/contact/ "How do I contact Pearlcay?") with the page, the sentence and your source.

## About Pearlcay: questions

### Is Pearlcay accredited by ICANN?

No. Pearlcay is operated by DomaineGoat LLC, which holds no ICANN accreditation. Domains are registered through our ICANN-accredited registrar partner, so ICANN rules apply to each domain.

### Why is there no ID check?

ICANN asks that one contact of each domain be verified. An identity document is not part of that rule. We verify a single email address per domain and keep it private. Payment is in crypto, so there is no card to check either.

### Where is the company based?

DomaineGoat LLC is incorporated in Panama. We release the data we hold only when Panamanian law requires it (a Panamanian court or prosecutor's order), or in a UDRP case.

### Does Pearlcay sell anything besides domains?

No. Pearlcay sells the registration, renewal and transfer of domains, and the optional [Domain protection](https://pearlcay.com/domain-protection-option/ "What is Domain protection, and do I need it?"). DNS and forwarding come with each domain.

### Can I quote your data?

Yes. The [island domain index](https://pearlcay.com/island-domains/ "Which domain extensions belong to islands?") is published under CC BY 4.0: quote it with a link to the page. Other pages can be quoted with a link and the date shown on the page.
