## Saint Vincent and the Grenadines behind .vc

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is an island nation in the Windward Islands of the Caribbean, home to about 110,500 people according to Rest of World. Saint Vincent is the main island, and the Grenadines are a chain of smaller islands to its south.

The .vc code is the country's own. IANA lists the Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry as the manager. The technical contact is Identity Digital Limited, and the name servers still carry the name of Afilias, the company that rebranded with Donuts as Identity Digital in June 2022. The IANA record was updated on 22 October 2026.

The country did not choose .vc for venture capital. The two letters come from its name, as for every country code. The venture reading was an accident that investors noticed. Amy Thorpe described the effect in Rest of World in September 2023, naming foundry.vc, iqcapital.vc and butterfly.vc among the sites that use it.

Venture capital is the obvious answer. A fund, a studio, an angel syndicate or a founder-investor can spell the trade in the address itself. Rest of World named foundry.vc, iqcapital.vc and butterfly.vc as examples in 2023, and that short, readable address is the whole appeal.

The ending is not limited to investors. The survey lists it as open to everyone, and nothing in the registry data asks for proof of a venture business.

Length is the one rule to check. Gandi lists names of 3 to 63 characters for .vc, so very short names may not be available. The search box above shows what is free.

Shopping around is shorter than for most endings. Three of the ten registrars in the 2 November 2026 survey do not sell .vc at all: Cloudflare, NameSilo and Spaceship. Among the registrars that price in US dollars, prices ran from $25.99 at Sav to $41.98 for a Namecheap renewal.

**Who can register.** Anyone, anywhere, with no residency or business rule. **Length.** Gandi lists 3 to 63 characters and no internationalized (non-Latin) names. **Term.** One to ten years.

**Registry.** The Saint Vincent ministry is the manager named by IANA, and Identity Digital runs the technical side. The survey found no wholesale price notice for .vc in 2025 or 2026.
